Bar Buci: Built for the setting, made for the experience

A sophisticated cocktail bar with a nostalgic jazz feel and wide sea views, Bar Buci was designed to feel both stylish and social. The client requested a large olive tree to sit at the centre of the main seating area, creating a strong focal point while still working with the surrounding decor. It needed to feel bold enough to stand out, yet natural enough to sit comfortably within the space.

To achieve this, a detailed olive trunk from our collection was selected. This specific one was chosen for its naturally gnarled shape and the character needed to support the scale of the build. From there, we designed a tree standing at 5 metres tall with a canopy spread of 5 metres, giving it the presence needed to hold its own within the space. As this was a commercial environment, safety formed a key part of the specification, so the tree was built using FireSilx inherently fire retardant olive foliage.

With the tree positioned within a busy hospitality setting, guest interaction was considered throughout the design. The canopy clearance was set at 1.8 metres, allowing people to move comfortably around the space, sit beneath it, and enjoy the setting without it ever feeling intrusive.

As the installation was located within close proximity to our treebuild factory, the structure was manufactured exactly as it would appear on site. This allowed for a full inspection ahead of sign off, ensuring every element met the agreed specification. Once approved, the canopy was hand dressed on site, shaping the foliage into a more natural growth pattern, with final detailing added to refine the overall finish.

Once installed, the olive tree settled into the space as intended. It brings scale, character and structure to the interior, while naturally drawing attention within the bar. Its presence helps define the seating area and supports the overall atmosphere, giving Bar Buci a feature that feels considered, memorable, and in keeping with the setting.
